Carebears are carebears. Some people play this game entirely for the "achievements" against static, NPC opponents.
Well, the average lvl.4 mission farmer shouldn't come out on top isk-wise compared to the average guy in 0.0 and the average guy in deep 0.0 doesn't live from 10/10 complexes, can't run missions where he lives, but has to earn his money with ratting or mining, like maybe 500 or more other characters in his alliance.
Alliance players have to build and defend their home, have to invest millions in infrastructure and equipment that is likely to be destroyed, millions to replace ships, implant, clones... They have to travel dozens of jumps through lawless space regularily to get their stuff done, while other people just sit in newbie systems, farm lvl.4 missions all day long and get richer and richer with almost no risk and don't know, what to buy next ? Maybe faction mods, maybe t2 BPOs ?
Sounds ridiculous to me. Mission runners don't play the game alone, they are in competition with the other players. We use the same market.
So true it brought a little crocodile tear to my eye. The game by and large would be much better off if everybody had to adhere to some amount of risk vs reward. That a culture exists that feels entitled to huge amounts of isk at no danger whatsoever is really a sign of just how broken high-sec missions by themselves are.
Putting the profitable level 4's in lowsec wouldn't have any impact on a mission runners income - it would only necessitate some amount of player interaction to stay safe, but it's still really, really easy. Just not so easy as to literally be a singleplayer game.
And if I were to speculate, most of the 7month turnover crowd stems from the demographic of high-sec mission farmers. But that's of course speculation.
Edit : That aside, the cheap farming tricks for missions in general should be removed. Respawns are mostly unnecessary (or if you do them, 0 bounty/0 loot), and refreshing missions and commanders at downtime needs to go. Those two factors are simply exploitive.
